PDO Thread Lift

PDO Thread Lifting

PDO thread-lifting involves the gentle insertion of micro-fine threads of Polydioxanone (PDO) into the skin. The PDO threads are very safe as they have been used as sutures in heart surgery for over 30 years. The threads create a supportive mesh under the skin and deliver both an immediate and a progressive lift while smoothing away fine lines and wrinkles.

The threads gradually dissolve over 6-8 months, but during this time they encourage the skin to produce fresh collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid – the building blocks of youthful skin. This results in a reduction of wrinkles, fine lines, jowls, loose skin on neck, crow’s feet and wrinkles under the eyes, long after the threads have dissolved! The PDO threads get your skin to do what it does best – regenerate itself, working with you to create a natural facelift.

BOOST THE BENEFITS

PDO Thread-lifting can be combined with PRP Therapy, whereby plasma from your own blood is injected at the same time as the threads. The platelets within the plasma release their growth factors which stimulate repair and boost the collagen production. This simple added procedure enhances the results by up to ten times.

Who is it good for?

This procedure is best suited to clients with mild to moderate sagging of facial tissues, usually those in their mid-thirties to fifties.

PDO Threads are ideal for contouring, sculpting and lifting. The treatment can be used to tighten wrinkles and create a lift to sagging skin. Common areas for treatment in younger patients are the crow’s feet and brows since they are the first areas of the face to start to show signs of ageing.

As you continue to age the lower half of the face begins to sag and it is here that PDO threads can create a lift to the cheeks and reduce the depth of nasolabial lines (nose to mouth) and marionette lines (mouth to jaw). They are also perfect for defining the jawline and tightening loose skin on the neck – as PDO threads help to kill off fat cells they also help to create a more youthful tight jaw.

What's involved in the treatment?

Local anaesthetic is used to numb the skin before around 10 micro-fine needles are inserted into the skin. These are then gently withdrawn, leaving the threads in place, the needles are so fine there shouldn’t be any sign that you’ve had anything done. PDO Threads can help lift the face without invasive surgery and can be used anywhere on the face where a gentle lifting is desired.

What results can I expect?

You should notice an immediate tightening of sagging skin thanks to the support matrix of threads. These results will continue to improve over the coming months as filaments of collagen form around the threads. Your skin will gradually appear firmer, and lines will be minimised. The threads dissolve around six to eight months after the procedure, leaving your own collagen network in their place for two to three years, so the benefits will last some time.
